Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans waited a long time for Year 5 to roll around, and so far, it has been one of the busiest years in the game yet. Brand new gameplay features have been introduced on top of the expected new story content, giving Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players more things to do in the game than ever before.

Year 5 has brought with it plenty of changes, and it may be hard for some Hogwarts Mystery fans to keep track. For those wondering, here is everything new in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery‘s Year 5.

Diagon Alley

After weeks of waiting, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans can finally travel to Diagon Alley in Year 5. They have to progress all the way to Chapter 10 to do so, but it’s worth the effort, as it lets players explore not just Diagon Alley, but the creepy Knockturn Alley as well. Like other new areas in the game, Diagon Alley is full of sub-areas that players can check out, including memorable locations like the Three Broomsticks. Plus, it also has a new free energy reserve in the form of a bag players can tap in the alley that then summons one of the treasure-obsessed Niffler magical creatures.

Magical Creatures Reserve

Speaking of Nifflers and magical creatures, Year 5 has also seen the introduction of a second new area called the Magical Creatures Reserve. It’s here that players can use red notebooks to adopt new magical creatures, but instead of keeping them in their dormitory like the other pets, players have to visit them in their habitats. These creatures can be fed and bonded with, which will net players some free energy and other rewards.

Free Energy

Free energy is plentiful by the time players reach Year 5 in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. There are new pets to adopt, plus two new free energy reserves that players can routinely tap on in the form of the aforementioned coin bag in Diagon Alley, as well as the Borf that can be found in the Magical Creatures Reserve, between the Grasslands area and the Forest.

The Magical Creatures Reserve gives players an additional way to get free energy in the game besides just the Borf. Players will typically be rewarded with a free energy bit and other rewards by bonding with magical creatures, giving them more chances to load up on free energy than they ever had before.

New Classes

In Year 5, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players will have all the same-old classes to complete, in addition to two brand new courses. The first is History of Magic, which is taught by the ghostly Professor Binns. The other new class is Defense Against the Dark Arts, which is taught by none other than Madam Rakepick.

New Friends

And finally, Year 5 in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery gives players the chance to make some new friends. Leveling these friends is going to take some serious work, but persistent players will be able to do so and be rewarded with gems and free energy for their efforts.

Here are all the new Year 5 friends in Hogwarts Mystery:

  • Jae Kim (Gryffindor)
